Experimental Physics at Penn

Alysa, David, Clara and Mariko are attending the Experimental Physics Academy at UPenn, a 4 week Physics course providing hands-on experience.

It is primarily taught by Professor Bill Berner, but some lessons will be taught by guest lecturers from all walks of life.   Topics covered include mechanics, optics, and electricity. The university provides high quality equipment and discussions with current UPenn students and professors.

The academy students will also get the chance to experience physics applied to roller coasters and rock climbing walls during class field trips.

Days are split between lectures and lab experiments, allowing plenty of time for hands-on learning. Students will even have the opportunity to measure the speed of light with hand-built machines or work in UPenn's graduate labs.

Course specifics and structure can be found at the academy's webpage: http://www.physics.upenn.edu/pssa/
